Who is Alexis?

Alexis has a background in foreign policy and civil society, with a career that spans from the U.S. Government to the technology sector. Alexis is currently a Resident Fellow with the Institute, focused on the intersection of policy and partnerships. Prior to her fellowship at the Integrity Institute, Alexis served as Meta’s Strategic Advisor for the VP of Governance. Her work designing Governance’s global strategic engagement and stakeholder strategy focuses on understanding how to build decentralized governance mechanisms around Meta’s family of Apps including: Facebook, Instagram, Oculus, WhatsApp, Messenger and other emerging technologies.

Her political career began as a field organizer for President Obama’s re-election campaign in Colorado. Soon after, Alexis accepted a position of Outreach Coordinator and Constituent Advocate in U.S. Senator Michael F. Bennet’s office. While there, her portfolio included healthcare, education and international and national security policy. After serving his office for over two years and receiving recognition for her dedication to minority constituent groups; including refugees, at-risk youth, African Americans, and Muslim and religious minority communities; Alexis moved to New York to pursue her Masters in International Relations.

As the country grappled with issues of race and identity, Alexis created a path where she could continue to engage with disparate communities. She worked on fundraising and programming for DNC Vice-Chair Michael Blake and The Collective PAC. During this time, Alexis also worked at Columbia University’s Institute for Human Rights and served as a Research Fellow at the United States Institute of Peace, where her work focused on Countering Violent Extremism in Fragile states. Over a wide-ranging career, a constant for Alexis has been her leadership and forward thinking in the matter of democratic governance and participation for all.

Alexis is a graduate of Spelman College (BA) and New York University (MA) and currently resides in New York. Alexis is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
